Introduction to Medicare

NC Department of Insurance logo imageWill you soon be eligible for Medicare or have you recently enrolled in Medicare? Do you have questions about Medicare and the options and plans available to you? The Gaston County Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) and NC Cooperative Extension are holding two workshops to provide an introduction to Medicare and answer questions you may have about the various plans and programs.

The workshops are scheduled for the following dates: Wednesday, September 19, 2018 and Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Both workshops are from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.. The workshops will be held at the Citizens Resource Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy., Dallas, NC 28034. The Citizens Resource Center is located at the entrance to Dallas Park.

Workshop attendees will learn about the features of Medicare health plan options, information they should consider when deciding which plan is best for their particular situation, ways to guard against Medicare fraud and abuse and services provided by SHIIP.

SHIIP, the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program, is a division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance that offers free, objective information about Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare prescription drug plans, Medicare fraud and abuse, and long-term care insurance.

There is no charge to attend the workshop. Anyone who will soon be eligible for Medicare, is already receiving Medicare benefits or is caring for a Medicare beneficiary is welcome to attend.
