Double cropping wheat and soybeans poses major timing challenges that can be a headache for many farmers. Rye is another small grain crop that is being double-cropped and utilized locally to supply landscapers and homeowners with straw for seeded lawns. Early September is the perfect time to seed new cool-season lawns and reseed thin areas within a cool-season yard.
