Eat more Color with Local Produce

Join N.C. Cooperative Extension’s Gaston County Center, Lineberger’s Farm, and Basswood Creek Farms this spring as we bring the best of local agriculture directly to you! We’re partnering with Gaston County employees to make fresh, healthy food more accessible — with easy CSA pickups and food tastings that show you how to turn seasonal produce into delicious, simple meals.

Eat More Color with Local Produce

What’s in Store?

From juicy strawberries to crisp bok choy and versatile kohlrabi, we’ll offer:
  • Tastings with fast, healthy recipes
  • Tips for using and storing fresh produce
  • Fun ways to “Eat More Color” by focusing on:
    • Anthocyanins (reds/purples)
    • Carotenoids (oranges/yellows)
    • Isothiocyanates (greens/whites)
These naturally occurring phytonutrients don’t just give fruits and veggies their vibrant colors—they're packed with powerful health benefits!

Special Thanks

A huge shout-out to our Extension Master Gardener Volunteers , Extension & Community Association (ECA) Volunteers, and Extension Master Food Volunteers for supporting this initiative and helping make local food more accessible and enjoyable!
