Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Course Offered
Beginning April 5, 2021, you can begin the journey to becoming an Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer (EMGV). New for 2021 is the delivery of the course; offering the same great program, but from the safety and comfort of your home. Virtual delivery also means flexibility to meet your schedule. The 12-week virtual program will include weekly class gatherings with the instructor, reading and homework assignments, quizzes, and fun, interactive activities for everyone. Cost for the training is $125.00
Upon completion of the course, you’ll enter a one-year internship, where you are required to volunteer 40 hours in your choice of many community activities. Interns also are encouraged to join the Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Gaston County, where you will meet other folks who have completed the process. Once the Internship is completed, you’ll become a Certified Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer and commit to 20 hours of volunteer service and 10 continuing education hours per year thereafter.
Is the Extension Master Gardener℠ program of Gaston County for you? To help you decide if you should apply, ask yourself these questions.
- Do I want to learn more about the culture and maintenance of many types of plants?
- Am I eager to participate in a practical and intense training program?
- Do I look forward to sharing my knowledge with people in my community?
- Do I have enough time to attend training and to complete the volunteer service?
If you answered yes to these questions, this course is for you! The first step is to submit your application: Gaston EMGV Application for 2021
