Home Grown Gaston Partners with Gaston Hospice
Gaston County Cooperative Extension is pleased to announce that Gaston Hospice has been selected as the Home Grown Gaston community partner for 2014.
Home Grown Gaston is N.C. Cooperative Extension’s annual event celebrating local foods and local causes. The event will showcase delicious locally-grown foods that will be prepared by chefs from local restaurants. Festival attendees will also enjoy live music and have the opportunity to meet and greet the local farmers and chefs who prepared the food. This year the event will be held on September 9th from 5-8 p.m. at the Gastonia Farmers Market.
Each year, a non-profit community partner is selected to help introduce new audiences to locally grown foods and Cooperative Extension programs. The event also markets and supports the non-profit partner. As this year*s partner, Gaston Hospice will receive 100% of the event proceeds.
North Carolina Cooperative Extension is an outreach of N. C. State and N. C. A&T Universities in partnership with each of the 100 North Carolina counties. Cooperative Extension works with communities to deliver education and technology that enrich the lives, land and economy of North Carolinians. Based on local needs, Gaston County Cooperative Extension tailors its programs to agriculture and natural resources, 4-H youth and helping families learn skills related to gardening, nutrition, parenting and senior issues.
Gaston Hospice provides a unique form of health care for patients with a life-limiting illness who can no longer benefit from efforts to cure their disease. In addition to addressing physical pain and symptoms, hospice responds to the social, emotional and spiritual needs of terminally ill persons and their loved ones as they define those needs.
Gaston Hospice uses money contributed by the community to bridge the gap for patients who do not have private insurance or qualify for Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement.
Gaston Hospice is seeking local businesses and organizations to help sponsor the event. Sponsorships are available at several different levels, including in-kind sponsorships. Contact Gretchen Oakley, Gaston Hospice development coordinator for information on sponsorships at: Gretchen.Oakley@caromonthealth.org
Tickets to the event are $35 per person and will be available for purchase on this website beginning August 1st. For any questions about the event please contact Gaston County Cooperative Extension at 704-922-2111 or firstname.lastname@example.org
