As we step into the New Year, it’s the perfect time to take a meaningful step toward securing your financial future. Join us for the Money Smart for Adults workshop, held on the second Monday of each month at the Gastonia Main Branch Library. This valuable program is sponsored by N.C. Cooperative Extension and Gaston County Public Library.
Money Smart for Adults provides essential financial education, covering topics that matter most to you, including:
- Understanding your financial values and having conversations with family members about money
- Choosing the right financial products for your needs
- Managing your income effectively
- Creating and sticking to a savings and spending plan
- Using credit responsibly and understanding borrowing options
- Protecting your financial rights and safeguarding your money
- Recovering from financial setbacks and rebuilding credit
Developed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Money Smart for Adults offers unbiased, fact-based financial education that is practical and relevant to everyday financial situations.
Who Should Participate?
This workshop is perfect for adults who want to improve their financial literacy, better manage their money, and save for the future. The sessions will cover budgeting, organizing financial documents, getting out of debt, understanding credit reports, using credit cards wisely, and much more.
“Many individuals across Gaston County can benefit from learning how to better manage their finances,” said Linda Minges, Program Facilitator for N.C. Cooperative Extension. “The start of the New Year is the ideal time to launch this monthly workshop. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and learn from others.”
Workshop Details
The Money Smart for Adults workshop will be held monthly, on the second Monday of each month, beginning January 13th and running through December 2025. The first session will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Gaston County Main Branch Library, located at 1555 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia.
